Google Rolls Panda 4.0 [May 2014] & List of Top 10 Losers and Winners

Google’s Panda update was first introduced in February 2011 to improve the quality of search results for their users to include more relevant and authoritative websites. There have been several updates since its launch to further improve this.

It is a component of the organic search ranking algorithm designed to weed out low-quality sites, or those with “thin content.”

Panda 4.0, which Matt Cutts confirmed in his tweet has definitely caused some waves in the search results.

However, the fact that Panda 4.0 is also hitting at the same time as a refresh of an algorithm targeting spammy queries like payday loans makes it a little bit more difficult for webmasters to sort through the damage.

This Google Panda update is more link-based and focuses on keywords with high search volumes and CPC in which the potential proportion of spam in the SERPs is likely to be very high.
